THE RACINGVIN EVIDENCE NETWORK
IDENTIFY → VERIFY → CONNECT → PRESERVE
RacingVIN searches, connects and reconciles evidence across competition records, timing, chassis registries, sanctioning bodies, marketplaces, archives and owner documents — to reconstruct an individual racing vehicle. The work is reconstruction, not ownership of someone else's corpus.
Named sources are research targets. RacingVIN does not own, license or operate DriverDB, FIA, MYLAPS, Motorsport Stats or other third-party databases. CONNECTED is reserved for a formal partnership; none exist yet.
ONE CHASSIS IDENTITY
Reconstructed record Attributed sources · visible gaps
TARGET marks sources RacingVIN may reference or search. CONNECTED is reserved for a formal partnership. None exist yet, so every named source is TARGET. Logos identify sources only; they do not mean RacingVIN owns, licenses, or is connected to that source. Research also looks to auctions/marketplaces, manufacturer records, and owner documentation — still TARGET, not CONNECTED.
ARCHITECTURE
Each step keeps the source distinct from RacingVIN's reading of it. Discovery is not ingestion. A connected history can still contain open questions.
01 / DISCOVER
Search competition records, timing, chassis registries, sanctioning bodies, marketplaces, archives and owner documents. Discovery is research across the motorsport record, not a claim that those databases belong to RacingVIN.
02 / RESOLVE
Chassis numbers, logbooks, entries and listing identifiers are candidates until they can be tied to one vehicle. Resolution stays hypothetical when the evidence is thin.
03 / CORROBORATE
A result sheet, a timing file and a photograph can support the same chassis without any one source becoming the system of record. Conflict stays visible.
04 / SCORE
Record what is source-backed, disputed, unresolved or missing. Scoring is RacingVIN's reading of the evidence, not a third-party ranking absorbed into the registry.
05 / CONNECT
Drivers, teams, constructors, events and later observations attach to the same vehicle while each source keeps its scope and uncertainty.
06 / PRESERVE
Identity continues as listings, websites and owners change. New evidence can be added without erasing what was already attributed.
WHERE EVIDENCE COMES FROM
These groupings describe the kinds of records RacingVIN may reference. They are not coverage counts, and they do not imply a live connection.

WHAT A RECORD CAN HOLD
Each layer is a kind of evidence, not a coverage counter. Coverage depends on what can be attributed to a specific vehicle.
COMPETITION
Entries, results, timing and series context. A driver result is not automatically a chassis assignment.
VEHICLE
Chassis plates, logbooks, homologation and manufacturer identity. The physical car remains distinct from a documentary profile.
PEOPLE & ORGS
Drivers, teams, constructors, shops and sanctioning bodies, linked only as far as the evidence allows.
MARKET
Listings, catalogues and reported outcomes stay historical observations. RacingVIN is not a marketplace.
HISTORICAL
Period reports, archives and photographs. A picture of a car is a lead until identity can be corroborated.
FIRST-PARTY
Owner files, shop records and submitted documents. Private material stays out of the public projection until it is authorized.
THE EVIDENCE ADVANTAGE
The advantage is not ownership of third-party databases. It is the reconstruction: search, connect and reconcile fragments into an individual racing vehicle, with gaps left visible. Third-party names identify where evidence may be found. They do not mean RacingVIN operates, indexes or resells those systems.
Live RacingVIN corpus totals will appear here only when they can be counted from this registry. Until then they are omitted rather than estimated.
